My extracurricular club issues a bilingual student newspaper called "The APU Times" and was awarded an APU Incentive Scholarship Award for our outstanding achievement. University is a place for young and passionate minds to learn. In this light, the student newspaper is probably the strongest means besides the classroom environment whereby students could pursue their intellectual curiosity. With this belief, we started our paper in 2007, and we have overcome many challenges such as establishing our existence, and trying to achieve a high level though we are still students. Today, we are a bilingual club with over 55 members from 16 different countries. Managing a bilingual paper can be daunting. However, sustaining this characteristic and being able to enjoy such a unique atmosphere by producing quality work simultaneously are even more important. Being awarded the APU Incentive Scholarship Award, I feel that our achievement was recognized well in this community. This will certainly help us keep our aims alive and become a strong impetus for us all to look higher.
I have been honored to receive the Ando Momofuku Award, which is one of the prestigious scholarships for APU students, founded by Dr. Momofuku Ando, the founder of Nisshin Food Products Co. Ltd., in my third year at APU. Beyond recognition of my efforts and achievements, the scholarship was a precious opportunity for me to reflect on my student life as well as my future ambitions. While it gave me greater confidence to live with my passions and contribute to the community, I have also been inspired to aim high to deserve the title of a scholarship recipient. A scholarship is an honour, a challenge, but not an impossible achievement, as long as you pursue your ambitions and strive for it.
